• The octagon solid roof kit that you select (e.g., 10ft. to 11ft. Wide Octagon, Solid Roof) is designed to create a solid roof that can cover an octagon shape that is between 10ft. and 13ft. wide.
• The roof outer edges will overhang the octagon walls by 12″. The “10ft. to 13ft. Wide Octagon, Solid Roof” dimension does not include the overhang dimension.
• To determine what size octagon will fit in the space available in your yard, include and add the extra space required for the roof overhangs past the octagon walls. We recommend a 12″ roof overhang past the octagon walls.

Roof Framing Lumber Requirements:

• • Roof rafter and crosstie lumber to be kiln dried lumber (pine, cedar, redwood, etc.).
  • Roof skirt members to be pressure treated pine, cedar, or redwood.
  • Roof rafters’ size to be 2×6 or 2×8 for widths up to 16 feet and 2×8 (minimum) for widths more than 16 feet.
  • Cross Tie Beams and Roof skirt members’ size must be the same size as the roof rafter size.
• Roof rafters’ pitch angle is fixed at 20-degrees.
• Cross support beams are required every 24″ between adjacent rafters to support roof deck plywood/OSB boards.
• Follow all steps and instructions provided to achieve a professional finish and superb architectural exposed beam roof structure.
• Areas between cross tie beams can be filled with acoustic panels attached with PL Glue or other construction adhesive.
