These louvers can be mounted in fixed openings, in sliding barn door style frames, in bifold door frames, and in hinging door frames built with 2×4 or 2×6 PT lumber or Aluminum frames. It can be mounted on walls horizontally or vertically and on ceiling frames as adjustable sun shield.

Replace fixed Bahama louvers with rotating functional louvers which can be opened and closed.

Use as Wind blockers around hottubs and barbecue islands, Window privacy shield, Storm shield to protect large windows in sandstorms to protect glass panes, and as hurricane shields to protect windows from flying debris.

This Louver Bracket kit uses 1×4 (3/4″ x 3-1/2″) slats up to 60″ (5 ft.) PT (Pressure Treated) Lumber, 96″ (8 ft.) KD (Kiln Dried) Lumber and high density plastic (Polyethylene) lumber.

We recommend cedar, black locust, Iroko, teak, Ipe wood slats and high density plastic lumber for highend and long life.

HomeDepot, Lowes, and Menards carry textured low density white PVC 1x4s which may fit as louver slats. Before buying these PVC 1x4s, measure their thickness accurately. Make certain the thicness of the PVC is equal to or slightly less than 3/4″. If the PVC thicness is greater than 3/4″, do not use them. You will damage the louver bracket structure if you force materials thicker than 3/4″ into the Louver Clips.

Low density PVC 1x4s are very flexible and bow easily and have a high thermal expansion rate. If you plan to use low density PVC 1x4s in lengths longer than 36″, you must add 304 Stainless Steel edge stiffeners to stiffen the 1×4 PVC slats and prevent bowing.

Contact us if you wish to use PVC 1x4s longer than 36″ to order the stainless steel U-channel supports in 20″ lenghts.

Note: This is a DIY Louver Bracket kit. Slat material is not included. You acquire them locally.
