- Ridge beams are more important than what you have been led to believe. Never use 1X lumber as ridge beams which will flex and fail easily. Using 2×6 or 2×8 size lumber as a ridge beam provides permanent roof structures which do not yield to age or gravity in time. Stapling plywood on both sides of a ridge beam can provide adequate support for short term but results in the staples loosening and deforming quickly and leads to sagging ridges of roof structures. Verified ownerBeautiful bracket. SHipped fast. Had a 24' shed built by backyard products that used 2 12' ridge beams and tied the rafter into the seam. This bracket should be used by Backyard as standard if a a solid ridge beam is not an option for this builder. This is A product that is not carried in the box stores.
