Bryan McCleod –
This part is awesome. Very clever design and very accurate. I was able to assemble the whole octagon roof framing in less than 3 hours. The only help I needed from my friend was to lift the first 2 rafter assembly and place it on top of the octagon lower wall frames. After that, I was able to add all other rafters and cross tie beams without any help.
All lag screws needed to attach the rafters to this bracket were included. The bracket is very heavy duty and very strong. It has gussets under each rafter arm.
This bracket has a hole in its center. I am planning to add a ceiling fan there.
I am impressed with the design and heavy duty quality of this bracket.

This spider makes the whole octagon roof happen. Without it, no way no how anyone is going to build an octagon shaped roof. Very impressed with its quality. It makes our construction work very easy.
Curtis White –
This part really makes it easy to build the whole roof. I had never before built any roof structure. After reading through the install instructions, I had to try it myself. It worked out perfectly. I learned a lot about compound miter sawing and how to do it easily and accurately and how install a shingle roof. I think I can shingle any roof now.
Manuel Martin –
Very high quality part. Works very well as the main center spider of an octagon roof. Worth every penny and lots more.
Daniel Thompson –

This part came with the octagon solid roof kit. I went through the whole install instructions before ordering. I was wondering how this bracket would be able to hold up the roof. But after adding two rafters to it and bolting the rafers to the post tops, I understood. The bracket apparently works in compression. All rafters are pushing down on it and its shape is designed to transfer all the load to the opposing rafter direclty. So, in essesnce, the roof holds itself up. After we got the starter rafter assembly up, we added two more rafters at 90 deg to the first two. Then, me and my buddy hung from this spider. We both weigh around 220 each. Nothing moved. Quite amazing. We are surely impressed.
